SUPEREGO (Indonesia): brilliant Alt / Noise Rock
Superego is a band hailing from Jatinangor, Indonesia. Born in 2015, their music is a blend of Noise Pop, psych/alt rock with a Shoegazey tint.

We were made aware of this band by a fan, Bruno, and they found their way in our April 2019 playlist immediately.
Shortly after they started working with Shoredive records. The more we listened and the more we loved. They were kind enough to do the interview you will find below. We talked to Jeremy , their leader.
What is your music about?
Someone who suffer live in reality and tried to avoid from people which disturbing his peace.
What are your goals as an artist artistically/commercially?
Simple. People to understand our feelings through our music. Become famous is just a bonus. I
Who would you want as a dream producer, and why?
Butch Vig. Become an inspiration for us pertaining to keep rock music survive in 90’s era. Hope it happens again in our generation.
What are you trying to avoid as a band?
Despairing. Lose our enthusiasm for loving music and growing tired of it.
Explain your songwriting process.
Jeremy as a frontman writes and composes all the basic element of Superego songs by himself. When it comes to live performance and recording things, this will be refined with other personnel.
Why do you make the music you make? Is it in you? Is it your environment?
Similar with previous answer. It’s about deliver a rebuke to someone (or many) which in our opinion we have had bad experiences.
Describe your palette of sound.
Confrontational vocals which sometimes can be loud, minimalist overdriven guitar layer, standard melodical lead, low bass sound, and loud bang of drums.
If you could guest on someone else’s album , who would it be and why? What would you play?
So Many! Maybe if we can pick one, it will be John Frusciante. Some funky experimental things would be epic.
What musical skills would you like to acquire or get better at?
Classic piano skills.
Which other musician/artist would you date?
Lana Del Rey. Lol.
Is there a band that if they didn’t exist you wouldn’t be making the music you make?
Of course. Nirvana.
You’re from Indonesia, what are the advantages and inconvenient?
Indonesia nowadays is prone to accept other countries’ culture to become their lifestyle. So it become easy for us to ind something “unusual” especially in terms of music. But in general, crisis of tolerance cause us fear for freedom of expression.
