Famous 5 playlist, October 2017
Before beginning, do not forget that you can find this playlist (with many other) on Soundcloud HERE and on Youtube THERE.
If you have not read the excellent article from the Guardian about Asian Shoegaze, it is time to read it HERE. One of the bands mentioned is U.TA 屋塔, an outfit from Taiwan. It is excellent music, and the more I listen, the more mesmerised I am.
A long time fan of Stereolab and Laetitia Sadier, I discovered her work with Astrobal, her friend's Emmanuel Mario solo venture, thanks to their really good PR agency, Shameless Promotion PR. I love both the song and the video that are just being released. The 2 artists complement each other admirably on this opus, that is hopeful the first of many.
A great song chosen by Nico "Beatastic":
I have worked with Dani Mari and I love her voice and sense of melody and phrasing. This has a trip hop vibe to it , it's quite minimal but in a really nice way, I tend to like a wall of sound but this works really nicely as a fairly bare piece of music. Love it.
Ireland is a land of music and poetry. MBV and U2 were born in the streets of Dublin. Not long ago, Altered Hours was born in the country's second largest city (tiny by world standards), Cork. They were recommended to me both by a friend that saw them twice, and indirectly by the Brazilian band FireFriend (soon in Noise Artists all going well) through their social media. I knew only one of their EP. After some catchup, It is easy to realise why their fame is spreading outside Ireland. Listen by yourself:
An other great song discovered thanks to the Shoegaze Japan FB group, always a wealth of information on Asian Shoegaze, with some gems. It is one of them of a newcomer with a superb Noise Pop song:
