Thai Shoegaze and Dream Pop, Famous 5 playlist
After featuring Desktop Error (April) and Inspirative (June) in Noise Artists, it was a logical follow-up to introduce you to some of the other very good bands that make the Thai indie scene.
Yellow Fang are Bangkok Based trio band (all girls) with a very big fan base, even though they have only one LP. They have been spreading their velvety alt-rock since 2007. They favor the charm of the lo-fi sound over modern high fi techniques. I have been listening to them for some time and always come back to some of their songs with the same pleasure, especially this one.
Recommended by Desktop Error in their April 2017 interview as one of the best of the new generation of indie Thai bands, Solitude Is Bliss has a very nice mix of indie and Thai pop influences, tinted of reverb.
Harigum Zaboy is on the shoegaze side of things a provide very interesting music, that has been a fixture of some Facebook shoegaze groups in the last year or so. Demis-Sec is one of my favorite song from them.
I just love this song from Monomania:
Jelly Rocket mix indie, Noise Pop and more pop aspects very nicely. They have a big follow-up in Thailand, and some of their songs are a pleasure to listen to, especially this one. Hopefully, they will be available on Bandcamp soon.
We can hope that Jelly Rocket and Solitude is Bliss will be available one day on Bandcamp for their international fans.
Note to the reader (July 2018): Since this list has been posted, Noise Artists has started doing country guides to Shoegaze & Dream Pop. The Brazilian guides are scheduled for second semester 2018. Keep an eye on the blog
