Explain your composing process.

It always start with fooling around ( improvise) on an instrument ( piano, guitar) and try to make something out of a simple pattern, riff or rhythm.

Why do you make the music you make? Is it in you? Is it your environment?

I make the music I make because it comes naturally and I can’t help it. I believe the music is inside a music instrument, all I do is getting the music out of the instrument and by constantly playing and understanding this instrument new songs/compositions keep coming.

Minimal composition for 2 pianos based on a rhythm pattern. It's not an easy piece to listen to because of the shifting patterns but it works for me.

Describe your palette of sound.

My music is all about rhythm and sound. It’s like the old jazz tune “It don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing”. The polyrhythms create a kind of hypnotic and meditative atmosphere. I also like to use a lot of space and repetitions.

As a trained musician and composer is it easier of more difficult to create music?

I am a trained musician but try to forget all the rules when I am composing. Sometimes I know how to use music theory when I need it but most of the time I trust my ears because they are the real judge and not something out of a book.
