CULENASM: "rest of the dusk" EP Review (English and Chinese)

English review

CULENASM is a 4-piece band formed in May 2018 in Fukuoka. Their sound ranges from shoegaze to dream pop with a refreshing influence of J-pop music. CULENASM’s album "rest of the dusk" is a combination of freshness, catchiness, and delicate emotions which leaves the listener an unforgettable impression.

Unlike the dusk, CULENASM does not give off any darkness, but instead shines like the busy but beautiful city lights while the audience sees the view from afar during the "rest of the dusk".

The first track "白い記憶" prepares the audience to leave behind the past to create a fresh memory of CULENASM's translucent music doubling with streams of outpouring emotions like crying out loud towards the sea.

The second track "残映" envelopes the listener with mellow but emotional music like singing to yourself while walking by the shore at dusk.

The next track, "velvet rain", with its gentle sounds, brings the listener to enjoy the cool, soft rain falling on the face while walking away from the shore back to the city.

"ウェインは言った" comes up next with uplifting and poppish music to accompany the listener while walking back home, passing by people in the city.

The last track "青を見る", personally my most favorite track of the album, quietly begins to embrace the listener to watch the colorful lights of the city at dusk from the window of their home. When the eyes are closed, the emotions of the music outburst, and the corner of the eye slowly gets wet. When the eyes are opened again, night has passed, and you "see the blue sky".

With influence from bands and singers like the jesus and mary chain, BUMP OF CHICKEN, Utada Hikaru, etc., culenasm blends dreamy shoegaze with melodic J-pop sounds to create a fresh, vivid listening experience to the audience. Using the blend of the vocalist's sweet voice as well as the dreamy but bright guitar noise, culenasm creates their own music world of the new generation.

CULENASM是一隊在2018年5月的福岡結成的4人樂隊。他們的曲風偏向盯鞋與夢幻流行的同時，也帶點J-POP的影響。culenasm的大碟「rest of the dusk」揉合了清新的風格、深刻的印象和細膩的情感，讓聽眾一聽便忘不了。跟昏暗的暮色不一樣，culenasm沒有一絲黑暗，反而是光亮得像繁忙又美麗的都市的燈光一樣，讓觀眾在「靜態的暮色」裡遠望這都市的光景。

第一首「白い記憶」讓聽眾準備放下過去，以全新的記憶來記下culenasm富有透明感又伴隨著彷彿在海邊大喊著洶湧澎湃的情感的音樂。

第二首「残映」讓聽眾被包圍在安靜又豐富情感的音樂裡，像慢步在薄暮中的海邊裡一個人自己唱起的歌一樣。

下一首「velvet rain」溫柔的帶著聽眾享受清涼又細雨綿綿的雨點灑在面上的舒適感，慢慢地離開海邊回到城市裡去。

第四首「ウェインは言った」用輕鬆又愉快的音樂陪伴著聽眾慢慢的經過城市裡的人群走回家。

最後一首「青を見る」一開始安靜的陪伴著聽眾從家裡的窗戶看著薄暮裡的城市五光十色的燈光。當眼睛閉上，音樂的情感爆發了，眼角上漸漸的變濕了。當眼睛再次打開，夜晚過去了，映在眼前的是藍色的天空（空の青を見る）。這是我個人最喜歡的一首。

culenasm受影響的樂隊和歌手包括the jesus and mary chain、BUMP OF CHICKEN、宇多田光、等等。他們將盯鞋的迷幻和J-POP的旋律融合在一起為聽眾帶來新鮮又多樣的聽覺享受。culenasm以甜美的歌聲唱出深刻的旋律，迷幻卻清新的結他淡淡地譜出屬於新世代樂隊culenasm的音樂世界。
